Description
On this day, October 16, 2015, we have made it to the 30th anniversary of two 1980s icons: the release of Nintendo's NES and a peripheral device called R.O.B. the Robot.
To get people to start buying video games again after the Video Game Crash of 1983, Nintendo sold their NES with a robot called R.O.B., which was short for "Robotic Operating Buddy". It was sold as toy rather than a video game console.
R.O.B. was the main reason the NES was a success, because at the time people were seeing video gaming as a dying fad.
While there were only two games which were compatible with the accessory (Gyromite and Stack-Up), he did serve his purpose and for that Roxy and I are wishing them both a happy 30th!
NES and R.O.B. are (c) Nintendo
Roxy is (c) me
